Saving Money On Your At Home Entertainment
By Aydan Corkern
So, you have managed to scrimp and save up all of the money you can, and you have moved into a small apartment. You have bought all of your essentials. You have food to get you through the next couple of weeks. You have cleaning supplies, dish washing liquid, and laundry detergent. You have clothes bought. You have smoke detectors and a fire extinguisher. But the one thing you do not have is a form of entertainment.
There is not much point in spending the majority of your time in one place if you have nothing to do, right? Now I know you must be thinking that entertainment is a nonessential and that you need to continue to save your money, but you do not have to pinch every penny. You can still get entertainment for a reasonable amount of money.
The first thing you may be looking for is a TV. If you do not have one, then you can definitely find a cheap one in a relatively short amount of time. Since you are trying to save some money, you may want to consider looking for any garage or yard sales in your area and those could be your best bet to find a good, used TV. If not there, then there are usually thrift stores that carry used electronics such as televisions.
After you have gotten a TV, you will want something to watch, right? Well you could also get a DVD player at a thrift store or garage sale, and once again save money. This could be cheaper than having satellite or cable installed at this time. If you get a DVD player, you are probably on the lookout for something to play in it, right? Well, at video and entertainment stores there are usually bargain bins that let you buy either used or old movies that you can add to your collection.
You are probably thinking that you can only watch a movie so many times before getting bored with it, right? Well, the same principle of visiting the video store applies to the music store. There are bargain bins you can go to in music stores that offer savings just as good, if not better, then the ones you would get at the video stores. If you also have a stable income, then you may want to see about getting cable or satellite later. If your income allows you to be able to pay for it every month while still allowing you to retain enough of your money to cover your essentials, then this would be a great investment to keep you entertained at home instead of having to go out as often.
